Golden orbs flashed through the night, piercing the thick misty tendrils of fog that were lazily twisting up towards the heavens, which had been temporarily masked by huge looming pitch clouds. A lone figure made it’s way slowly, yet determined and confidently, through the undergrowth of the forest, small wafts of hot breath steaming up in the cool atmosphere as they escaped the figure’s nares and lips. She walked through the silent forest with a graceful aura about her, as though she herself was the single element that held the silence of the trees and all of the beings that lived throughout it. As the ashen shadow emerged from the darkness of the forest and into a large clearing, she let out a sight of relief, closing her optics for a moment to savor the scents of the pack who’s boundaries lay before her, at the edge of the meadow. She opened her muzzle to let a short, clipped howl escape her jet black maw, telling the anyone of hearing distance she had arrived in the vale safely and was beseeching anyone's presence. She glanced back nervously from the direction whence she had come, searching the scenery for any unwanted followers before looking up at the sky to wait for her someone to arrive.
Her golden-brown optics glittered with excitement as she looked up into the heavens, and a single star broke cover of the looming grey clouds. Thinking of the brute she had sighted from afar that afternoon, the femme sighed with contempt, for she felt as if she would never be sufficient for a brute as he, even if she hadn't gotten but a glimpse of him and hadn't heard his calling. She pushed the thought out of her mind, disgusted with herself. The femmora spat onto the moss at her paws, frowning, confused. What was happening? Hadn’t her mother told her not to feel these feelings of affection? These were weaknesses, these feelings of affection, and they must be stopped. Yet. . .He was so handsome. And her mother was dead, long gone from the Earth and her daughter, and of good cause. Halia let a sigh of longing escape her maw, looking at the small beetle that had started to crawl absentmindedly over her paw. What if. . .what if he cared for her? Would there be the love waiting for her with him that she had secretly longed for all of her childhood? Her longing soon grew to anger at herself, and she lunged down to close her jaws angrily on the unsuspecting insect that had just reached the ground on the other side of her ash grey paw. She smiled contentedly as a small crunch split the midnight air, and she dropped the beetle from her pearlescent white teeth, satisfied to have taken her anger out on something innocent, something unknowingly waddling to it’s doom. . . . It always made Halia feel better, weather it was just yelling at the others or goring huge scratches in the forest loam with her large, sharp talons, but inside she knew it did not. The feelings of fury and hate for the world were not released by these shows of emotion, but only increased ten-fold. Love. . .It was something she knew she wanted, but would never have. . .or would she?
Laying down on the soft mossy soil of the barren meadow, Halia set her muzzle across her crossed mitts, wondering. What was love like? Could it be better than her current life here? She sighed, wondering where the others were. A small silver tear slipped down her muzzle before she knew it was coming, and she let it course down her face to the ground, where it landed on a dusty patch of land and the soil turned a dark henna from the moisture. Another followed the first, and this one Halia angrily wiped with her paw, though her anger soon receded into self pity. What was it that she wanted?

Rhone heard the soft pitter patter of the shinny tear drop fall upon the ground. The wolfess was crying, and he felt it was his chance to make her feel better. All though they had not met, he was eager to meet someone. He could understand it was a beautiful wolfess who had just bared a tear, and wanted to help. He wasn't sure what made her sad, but was eager to know. He padded toward her, unaware where he was, in the Lover's Rendezvous. He thought it was a beautiful place that lovers happened to meet. His auds flicked around, trying to find the femme who waited for someone, though he was not sure whom. "Excuse me" He called when he thought he saw some other wolf. He began to trot as he caught the scent of the young wolf. Or was she young? He hae no idea just by one scent. His optics scanned the sorrounding area, then caught her in his site. She was beautiful, and looked wise are caring. His shadow nearly met hers, as he sat down.

Halia sniffled a few times, feeling a great amount of self-pity as she sunk deeper and deeper into her melancoholy mood. Her anger had subsided into a wanting, a yearning for a companion that would protect her and shield her from the world when she needed it. And yet. . .there was a sliver of coubt in her thoughts, and as Halia remembered, this was the same feeling she had yearned for in her mother, though it never came. Athina, the wolfess whom had raised her, was bitter and unkind, and Halia had wished for months that her dame would lose her uncaring attitude and throw the past behind them, giving Halia the motherly love that she needed as a small pup.
Again the anger rose as the beautiful wolf thought of her shattered hopes. My mother was a good for nothing fox! She wouldn't have shown me love even if I had been as terrible as she tried to make me! How could I have hope dfor love and support from her? A fresh wave of tears flowed freely down the femme's muzzle, her amber optics wide and slick with unshed silver tears. Hearing a twig snao behind her, the female leapt to her paws, her lip curling up in a snarl and her orbs turning hard and cold. The tears still shown fresh on either side of her muzzle, and Halia was humiliated to realize so as she faced her unknown spy.
The snarl died in the throat at the memory of those tears and the emotions behind them, and the ash grey femme stood in a regular pose, her auds no longer laid flat against her crania as she stodd before the beute. Still, she was wary. "What are your reasons for sneaking up on me like so? You do not look a foe, but I cannot be certain." Halia had scented the faint smell of the packlands on him, but pack member or not, he could be dangerous. . . .

Rhone tilted his head, and smiled. He looked to Halia, ready to talk. "I had no meaning to scare you. I appologize if you felt truely troubled" He turned his body to face her, and lifted his head. He paused, not sure what he forgot to say. "Oh, how stupid of me. I am sorry, I forgot to introduce my self. I am Rhone. I have just barely came here, and you are the first one I have met." Then, sure he had not forgot anthing, flicked his tail. He began to sniff her, quietly so he woukdn';t sound rude. You are from these lands too, yes?" Rhone thought he sounded foreign as he said this. I hope she doesnt still think I am a foe. Why did I dare come up behind her? Rhone smiled at Halia again. "May I ask you, why were you..." Rhone paused. He didn't want her to sound like a wimp. ... Bearing tears?" Rhone hated how he talked when he was around femme's.
